There’s a time and a place for it. The problem is the kids have no fear of their parents. It’s impossible to teach your kids anything anymore because all the rules have changed on what’s acceptable in this world. I’m glad I’m past that stage because I have no desire to parent in today’s world. I don’t agree with a lot and I wouldn’t raise them to go along with any of it either. If the government wants to control parenting then they can feed these kids that wind up in juvenile and are destructive and lazy contributors to society.

@Keepitsimple Kids know that anything they don't like can be characterized as "child abuse" and CPS sicced on the parents. Who needs it?

It’s a far cry from when I was raising my kids. I told them they could call CPS and make sure to tell them they had 2 siblings also. It’s a strange world. Nobody fears anything anymore. They keep coming up with labels and conditions to get out of taking responsibility and having any consequences. You can’t even say THAT to the kids today or you’re mentally abusing them.@graphite

@Keepitsimple Sneeze in their general direction and they have a lifetime of PTSD from it, nowadays. I hear that from one of my kids but funny thing, he doesn't move out, which he could do.

@graphite mine all the flew the coup. My youngest was 23 when he left but he was ready…we were ready too. 😂 It is hard though. I look at my grandson who’s only 18 months old and hope he doesn’t wind up being some brat I can’t stand. Time will tell with the way society is nowadays.

@Keepitsimple I had an actual awful situation as a kid (not a manufactured, pretend one) and was on my own by my late-teens. I didn't want to be under anyone else's jurisdiction anymore.

@graphite I was 18 when I moved out also. I do think that sometimes difficult situations make us grow up faster and make us more responsible also. I hope you are ok these days.
