I need someones opinion

does protesting really do anything I mean does it really change anything at all they took down 2 statues in wilmington de because i guess they were afraid of people vandalizing them but just because you take them down its still in history books and libraries on the internet so whats the difference r they going to eventually take it out of everything I dont understand why certain people get so butthurt over history we don't live in those times anymore

I don’t know your motives in asking this so I’m going to assume you want an honest answer. People are angry, because historical attitudes carry over into the present and we are not as far away from that past as you may think.
The statues, the flags, the memorabilia, all belong in museums so they can be observed, studied, remembered as a time when a percentage of this country, founded on principles of freedom, seceded from the union and went to war for the continued right to own other human beings as the basis of their economy and their social structure. Since we don’t live in those times and are claiming to abhor racism now, we should be eager to move them there.
