Cut and paste on PM's

I don't seem to be able to cut and paste from PM's.
Am I doing this incorrectly?

For images r-click --> Save Image as ...
For text highlite the text Ctrl-Insert to copy then Shift-Insert to paste

Just do regular highlite copy and paste like all other iPhone operations.
