Why is humour one of the biggest causes of conflict between SW members?

Why can't we all laugh and joke together instead of pretending something is a "joke" when it's not funny?

I'll be honest: I think we're going through a comedy nadir. People used to laugh and now they just get offended and outraged.

Add to that the absence of things like vocal inflections or body language (while typing or texting)and you have a perfect storm of misinterpretation.
