Even if they message me first I always feel like I'm bugging them somehow. So sometimes I don't reply unless I think they're feeling my vibe and really like me

If I'm messaged first, I always respond. If I see someone reply or comment on my public comments a number of times, then I'll reach out and say hello. But if their profile implies they rather not receive messages, then I'll back off. I would just do whatever makes you feel comfortable.
