Was your school segregated?

Mine was. I was actually shocked in 2013 to see my cousins going to school with white children and other races.

No. But [b]I[/b] integrated it, I was the first. It wasn’t easy.
But again, this was in 1966. I would be rather surprised to see a segregated school in 2013.

@bijouxbroussard It's sad but the white people where I would live would rather see us in our own schools in our own tows as far away from them as possible. They aren't very shy about racism in NY.

@bijouxbroussard I remember the 1st African-American student and teacher in my Houston high school in the late 60's - it took a lot of guts

@tindrummer My parents didn’t tell me until I was older, but there were death threats. I remember the police came and took me home one day.

@tindrummer Yes, it was in California, 1966, less than 10 years after Little Rock and 2 years after the Civil Rights Act.
