Why ask questions that might elicit "varied" redponses and upset you?

Many posters ask questions, pretty loose, and some provocative and/or enticing. When that/those question(s) are answered the poster has opened himself/herself up to many responses, not all necessarily what they expected or wanted to hear. I say this; a metaphor, and no disrespect to any SWer who answers questions, but if you "chum" the waters, good chance sharks will show up!

I generally don’t, unless I’m specifically looking for an answer to something that seems illogical to me. I’ll hear whatever reply, as long as it’s not a personal insult.
