Why do people always assume that someone is making things up when they talk about something terrible that happened in their lives?

Ainny · 41-45, F
Coz they don’t want to hear the bitter truth

All the attention whores kinda ruin it for the rest.

Not always.

Regardless, they're in denial. They don't want to believe such terrible things exist in life.

@SW-User I have to agree with you....
Eddiesolds · 61-69, M
I never question any of it.what for? That's gotta hurt.

Fucking exactly.

Because some people come from pink fluff and can’t conceive of the horrors of reality. Plus they lack empathy.
Speaking for myself, the only reason I would, would be if the person had already been caught lying or exaggerating. Otherwise I’d have no reason not to believe them.
