I like the idea of everyone that wants to be verified to have credibility about their pics ... But I think also that the ones that aren't verified could feel or be seen by others as less important... Or fake perhaps, and they are still authentic but they aren't comfortable with posting pics of themselves, because they don't have the verified sign . Just a random thought. 😖... Random randomness.

@SW-User I think that's the only reason I can agree with where this could be a bad change.

(besides the one where they may sell our identity to FBI like someone said, that's also a worthy discussion to have)

@MartinTheFirst Plus a 'verified' account could be taken as an assurance that the listed age and gender are correct.

These are definitely some things that came across our minds also when developing this feature.

Unfortunately with such diverse websites, with any major feature release (especially with more sensitive/privacy based features), there will tend to be some percentage of users of whom these features do not benefit, or even work against their favor.

We will continue to consider all feedback, and try our best to make all legitimate users of this site (anonymous or not) as comfortable as possible.

I feel that one benefit of SW's verification system, is that any average member can become verified if they choose to.
While on other more popular social networks, the "Verified" badge is only reserved for Celebrities and Public Figures.

I see this as a step forward and benefit for average users. Unfortunately it will always be difficult to please every user of a site.

It's very difficult for us to place a "Verified" badge on user's profiles who choose to remain mostly anonymous about their identity.
