Yeah I've heard stories like that . I admire your heart's well wishes!!! Not everyone can see past behavior to the root of the problem.

@Mindful oh I've done that too ...or I'll post stuff then delete ...I choose to journal not online ...I feel it's kind of risky posting personal stuff on here ...always someone trying to use your vulnerabilities as a way in ...it's gross but happens and it happened to me so I'm trying to be way more careful...

@cherny re:taking advantage. I've been thru the gamut here. I've decided that the best way to keep things above board for all parties is to keep it "public" posts. Journaling: I think you're being wise and I'm being lazy. Sigh. Do you imagine God reads your journals? I find it comforting here to get at least one view or heart. It makes me feel I'm not alone in my thoughts. So I'm needy that way.

My best guess is that they’re starved for attention and they don’t get any in real life, so making up stories helps them obtain attention from strangers. It’s a little messed up though, their mental health is probably not doing well.

@Younameit I'm slow witted at times. I've had trouble identifying some of these liars in the past. I can see where someone tells stories to get attention and probably bends the truth ... I think to myself...hopefully it's not outright lying. But these news stories tell otherwise. Your logic that it's for attention and that they are mentally unwell makes sense.
