안녕하세요? (annyeonghaseyo?)

Are you happy being a South Korean living in South Korea? Do you live in Seoul? Do you study the history of Korea? There are American military bases and soldiers in South Korea. They are still in Korea even though the Korean War between the USA and China ended in 1953. The Chinese soldiers have all left Korea but the Americans are still occupying South Korea after more than 70 years! Koreans want reunion but the US presence is preventing that.

Some Americans believe that the US is protecting South Korea from attack by North Korea. This belief is not good because it does not bring peace to all Koreans. I am an American. I would not want foreign military occupying my country even to protect me from attack by other Americans.

What do you say?

Hello from across the seas from United Kingdom 👍

Hope u don't mind me asking questions about South Korea. First of all, do S Korea Join the Military after aged 18 or 21?? I am fascinated by such a thing as this and understand its importance but don't know if it's true?

@Rob04 between 18-35 I think is when all able bodied males join the military and can get discharged about 2 years after. My brother is about to get discharged from his mandatory military service next week but he is going to join permanently

Not a great time to be a young adult with that crazy North staring down at you. I hope it all works out.

@JamesBugman For me, as an American, it would be better if the US pull out of South Korea. We have no goddam business playing Godfather of the planet. It's up to the Koreans to get along with each other in any fashion they want. This is my preference. Let me ask yoon heekang.

@sree251 You do realize that the North have nuclear weapons, and the South do not.. right? The only safety they have from the North at this point are the Americans, who promise if the North drops a nuke, they will respond in kind.
Now if the Americans left, what do you think would happen?

Yes, I do know that. And you can thank us for that. Koreans are not going to be intimidated by us. They believe in the principle of our 2nd Amendment too: the right to bear arms and face down Americans trying to bully them.

You have got to be kidding. American military presence is a danger to South Korea because Kim Jong Un have no qualms taking out our bases and our troops even if we use the South Koreans as body shields. American presence in South Korea poses a danger to both North and South Koreans. Don't give me that bullshit that we are there to protect South Koreans. We can't and have not protected anyone.

Now if the Americans left, what do you think would happen?

Who knows? And why is it our business? They can either hug and kiss one another or choose to unite in another way.
