welcome aboard our mothership! I hope your skin is thick enough, as we tend to banter on here a lot. The atmosphere on SW is somewhat parochial, since it's a comparatively small site, and many members have been aboard the ship for a very long time, we've seen people come and go.

@helenS Parochial tends to suggest that your views reflect those of your own parish, or in more modern tautology, those of a small group of likeminded people. We have some SWeepers who fit those categories, but I like to believe that behind the cynicism a lot of us have developed or assumed, underneath it we are a reasonably friendly, welcoming group. Not necessarily teddy bears, but not man-eaters either.
Speaking of maneaters, you surely saw the story about the bear loving guy who disappeared somewhere in Alaska (I think). He was only identified by his DNA found in bear scat.🤣
