Hi I’m Ellie recently divorced and getting used to life living alone again and actually liking it as the stress has gone. Needless to say I’m not looking for love in fact I don’t know why I’m on here!! I have no clue how this works so probably won’t say much just yet. @EllieMoran your followers are just people who like you. You can follow them back if you like them and this will make you "friends", but dont feel forced. I have 300+ followers and im not following them back. Being friends is mostly just a token of friendship, but it also allows you to filter so that you only can see their stuff in the feed if youd like to see what your friends are up to.

You go to their profile and hit the plus button next to their profile picture.

@EllieMoran I recommend that you allow whiteboard comments and show gifts, this will let a lot of new faces say hi to you on your profile.
