I have been on this site for sometime now but I still don't understand how this site works lol. Do people just post whatever they feel or they actually share their real life experience here?

Both, as others have said. Post publicly like you did, and people will reply, add comments, and offer suggestions. You may also wish to privately message with someone, which is more like a private chat, except its not two way. You can also read people's profiles to learn about them and see what groups they belong to, and you may add some to your own as well. Hope this helps, and welcome.
