I am a New Member at Similar Worlds

I posted for several years on the Experience Project under the name Brainyblond. I deleted my 51 stories about my somewhat bizarre life, including my miserable childhood as a red diaper baby at the height of the Cold War red scare in the US. I feared the reactions of trolls and others who did not believe me, as well as the reactions of people from my own backgrounds who would believe me but be angry that I told my stories. Also, those I hoped would read it- - others like myself and friends- -did not and I felt badly about the lack of response. I am not blond anymore. I am 71 years old and have gone mostly gray though I put a blond tint over it. I have decided to post here because I am still hoping other red diaper babies (those born to, or adopted by, dedicated communist parents) especially the unhappy ones, will respond to some of my posts. And I like the feel of the community here.

Arnold, I was not really politicized as a child. My mother was a powerful person in a very secret part of the CPUSA. I was not selected for CP youth training. Everything was extremely secret. I was influenced by the left, and I don't regret some of that influence. But my feelings about communism are not objective; they are colored by the misery of my upbringing. In General, today, I am anti- communist, though I still support good unions, and have serious respect for the struggles of working people everywhere. I understand that socialist and communists have tried to bring about a better world. But, as far as I am concerned, they'll have to start the revolution without me.

How do you feel about the political leanings you were brought up with?
Im not one such but find it interesting as i was on the other side of the cold war waiting on the Soviets on the west end of the Fulda gap
