About Period tracking apps from a Tech Expert. Kythra Chans Tech Tips, Redux!

my friend Lily Starling helped me writing this but as a long term Pirate her advice has my endorsement I've long had Subpeona's as part of my threat model with my opsec.

"Heyyyyyy please stop telling people to delete their period tracking app.
Not knowing your exact date of conception because you didn't figure out how to do the paper method in the last month, which also involves a thermometer used at the exact same time every day and a fluid check every day, and takes a serious minute to learn to do correctly, and instead deleted the one reliable source of tracking you had ISN'T A GOOD POSITION TO BE IN.
Not to mention these apps track a lot of other health data that helps people self advocate.
Want a recommendation? Clue is a European company and can't be forced to comply with US subpoenas.
Please stop sharing viral panic messaging.
I do think it's a fine idea for people to learn how to do the manual tracking. But dumping their medical history and losing access to important dates in the short term is unhelpful."

Love yas, we had to do a Feminist version today in honor of the fact that the non human COCKROACHES on the supreme court just overturned roe vs wade.

tracking one's period is still vitally important, but caution needs to be had. For instance, the period tracker app Clue is based outside the US in Berlin and thus is not subject to subpoena/has mandated encryption & confidentiality. Other European based apps would likewise be safer bets

Beware US based apps, even if they assure they will never sell data, because they are required to release that info under subpoen
