I Am A Feminist Because I Believe In Equality
I had a conversation with my mother the other day where I was talking about the way I question everything and was atually encouraged to be that way as a child. and I brought up the way I like to question things especially when they're taken for granted by a large number of people like sports in this country and specifically high school sports. and I told her I had uncovered the realization that the reason we were expected as teenagers to wake up at 6:30 in the morning to be to classes that started precisely at 7:40 and had so much t rouble actually waking up on time is because teenagers are NOT wired to wake up that early and this has been well known to scientist for years and years and when its brought up people just say "That's the way it's always been." As if it being a tradition is an reason for it to continue being so. Spoiler: that's the WORST excuse you can possibly give. The REAL reason We were expected to wake that early was so that the Football team could be excused to go practice before the sun went down.
and that profoundy impacted my Academic performance because I just could not get to bed before about 2 am as a teenager or be up before 10 or later.
We let the YOUNG kids go later and make the teenagers go early in spite of the fact the young children are wired to be early risers whereas teenagers are wired to be night owls.
You know what she said to me? "Well paul it's because it's a man's world specifically designed for men."
and that is why Today I am a feminist in a nutshell. I cannot imagine an america so beholden to sports if women were running the ship. OH sure, people would be allowed to play but it would largely be on their own time. the thing that I would like women to understand is that the patriarchy is our common enemy. It's not working out for some of us who possess boy parts very well at all. a more balanced world where the powers that be cater to both men and women is a world that is vastly better for me. Right now the world deeply favors men. That's a problem for me.
Some women feel that men cannot be feminist but in the due course of time my reason for being as such is radicalizing me.
You are wrong Some of us will fight for the cause as if our lives depend on it because in many respects they literally do.
