Do you ever realize you don't learn the same history as other countries?

About 70% of our history books in Norway are about Norwegian/Norse history, different vikings and old Norse kings, the like. Most of our history classes covered stuff that I'm certain other countries would never learn unless they searched it up specifically.

We are also taught that the first European to discover America was Leif Eriksson, while it seems the US learns that it's Christopher Columbus... 馃

i beg to differ, i know next to nothing about viking kings. it's definitely not 70% of our history, probably not even20% of our history education

in fact we've gone from the very norwegian centric history education of the early to mid 20th century to a much more global and international history education. maybe your teacher spent more time on the viking era, but that is not the case in most schools across norway

@SW-User What, really?

Var mye Olav Tryggvasson, Harald Hardr氓de osv her. 馃
