Network generally refers to the switches and routers but you could mean:

software maintenance: updates/changes software is patched (latest changes to software pushed from server) Software changes can be either security updates or fixing bugs (issues) in the software application.

network maintenance: updates/changes- switches and or routers (switches connect computers / printers in a single location routers connect locations to each other and the internet) have a change in configuration (structure) to reflect changes in their end user (desktop, printers laptops) environment needs.

system maintenance updates/changes: Operating system is changed to reflect change in needs in either end user (desktops printers laptops) or back end servers.

You can kinda thing of an IT environment as a living system that has to change evolve grow or shrink morph overtime some of those process are automated by the devices, software or OS itself but many are done via human transactions.

Probably even more interesting is that most people specialize specifically in one area--say a specific kind of software(s) or front systems or networks
