Would you still go ahead with a plan even if it hurts the other person but is good for you?

But wait, is using and hurting other people really ever good for you? Although, this leads to some core ethical and sociological questions. But first, if you accept that job offer, aren't you going to leave someone else unemployed, rejected and hurt? Oh it's a personal question... In general terms no, if I can help it at all, especially when the person who is hurt is known to me. (Sociological experiment fodder: Have job-applicants meet other applicants in the waiting room and hear how badly they need the job, then being told the job is theirs if they only want it). The usual way people justify this choice to themselves is avoiding bigger hurt, ie. the ends justify the means.
