Did SW freeze for anyone else?

I use google as my browser and SW froze. Still frozen on Google, but I downloaded Firefox and it's working fine on that.

Does anyone here know enough about computer stuff to explain why that might happen? Please?

It has happened in the past, and I've had to just go away, and come back later, but I downloaded Firefox and it came right up. But now I have to learn how it works. I wish I could get Linux.
