What is it with some new employees?

If you've been working at a place or you've been a customer or client at a place for several years, you encounter a new person you've never met and before you know it, they talk to you like you've also never been there before. A supervisor or employer is different of course because he is a higher-up and has a right to change rules. The other day I met a new park ranger at the place I do my yoga class and I could tell we got off on the wrong foot. I got there a few minutes late because of work and immediately she told me about punctuality when in fact I was the only person attending the class.
