So someone told me that all monogamous people are jealous and possessive.
What would you say in this instance?

They generalize too much and are boring. I wouldn't continue talking to them.
If I had to respond, I'd point out how many don't get jealous. Many aren't possessive either. For one, you have religious people who are just following their book/s. Monogamy can be about morals rather than fear, protection and security (against being alone or STDs), etc.. The maybe just chose to only be with eachtoher as well. Plus, possessiveness comes in degrees. It's highly subjective..but then again, if you look at the definition of the word, it's clear that many people in monogamous relationships don't fit that at all.
