That is a really loose statement.
John Kerry married Teresa Heinz
She was the widow of Senator John Heinz
John Heinz family, including his kids, and not Kerry's family, are among the many heirs of Heinz foods.
So in a round about way, through marriage, Kerry is a beneficiary of his wife's fortune. She was a beneficiary of her late husbands fortune. I'm sure Kerry doesn't have to pay rent though.
No doubt she had him sign an iron clad pre-nup.

Al Gore Sr. had been influential and extremely effective for Armand Hammer of Occidental Petroleum. When Gore Sr retired from the Senate, Occidental hired him at $500,000 a year as an executive.
He never, and the Gore's never owned the company.
