Actually it does, but it's easy to miss it under the modern veneer.
One part of it is actually influenced by our geography. Similar to Norway perhaps, when America was young its people faced a vast, rugged, unconquered wilderness. A situation which many European nations like England and France had little perspective on in their homelands. It fostered a spirit of self-reliance, exploration, and romanticism unique from the American's European counterparts.
