Why is Middle America so addicted to opiates?

West Virginia has the highest rate of overdose death out of any state. What's wrong with this country?

You can thank Big Pharma for that who told doctors that opioids weren't addictive. And the dumbass doctors believed them.

@Peaceful: huh. ..who doesn't know they're addictive especially doctors
Peaceful · F
@Goralski: Big Pharma made specific videos about OxyContin and sent them along with their drug reps and convinced them that it wasn't addictive. Have you researched it?

@Peaceful: A big part of that for a long time was doctors getting all kinds of kick backs from Big Pharma for prescribing. And until a couple of years ago anyone could go to Florida, load up on pills and come back and sell them.
And yet weed is a Schedule 1 drug. Blows my mind.

@Peaceful: they could put out what they want you telling me a doctor doesn't know opiates are addicting
Peaceful · F
@Ynotisay: doctors still get kickbacks.
Yeah, the weed stuff is a load of crap too. I was just talking about how ridiculous that scheduling is with my friend the other night. :/

@Goralski: reread my response. It was the new drug in the scene and it's selling points were it was highly effective with pain without addicting their patients. :(
