tipping isnt compulsory in uk, so i hardly ever do, except when big fmaily meal

@buddyhally: big difference in the USA - here, they are allowed to reduce waitstaff wages to allow for presumed tips. The minimum wage is somewhere around $7.50/hour, but for waitstaff, it's only $2.13/hour. When I was in the UK, I would tip 5-10% for great service, otherwise not at all. In the USA, I tip 20-30%. Different setup, different customs.

@firefall: here minimum wage is £7.50, about $10, an dit cant be lowered, and most restaurant pay more ot get staff, but ill tip if its a big meal, but ill ask if the tip goes ot stff or to the boss which can happen
sometime speopel give staff secret tips, that they can keep, but if oyu odnt tip nobody says anything
