I caught a wild crow one time...

@cherokeepatti: how did you do that?

@theowl: He was sitting on the frame of a tent my sister put up by our garden. I was walking over there with my young nephew and told him to stand there and watch me catch that crow. I knew I had to catch it because I had just promised a 4-year old boy I would...walked over slowly and saw the crow still had a few pin-feathers on it's head so it was young...he tipped his head back and forth like a German Shepherd dog does when you talk to it....I looked around and saw some wild grapes on the fence and walked over very slowly and picked a small bunch and walked back and offered them to the crow. He looked at them about a minute and decided they were good and started to eat them from my hand...I grabbed his leg and got him under my arm and carried him back to the house, where we fed him cornbread and after about 10 minutes let him go. I was his best friend for several months after that. He would wait for me in the morning to feed him and when I drove to work he'd fly next to my car till I got to the end of the long driveway and when I'd come back home in late afternoon he'd be waiting for me on the mailbox and fly back alongside the car, and then I'd feed him again. He would eat out of my hand.

@theowl: I had a bluejay the next year, he'd eat out of my hand but wouldn't let me catch him...he loved watermelon and wanted me to squeeze the juice into his mouth.

lol... some bluejays are aggressive. but they are beautiful birds cardinals too.

@theowl: Bluejays are in the crow family. There's a pair with a nest in a tree in my back yard now. I love having them around. Cardinals nearby too. Once a baby cardinal hopped out of it's nest and was hopping around in the backyard and I got to hold it too. Sweet birds.

@cherokeepatti:
had a young robin on my car last saturday, slid down my windshield when I went to back up. Picked it up from the hood and it glided a little bit away.

@theowl: we have a lot of those around here too, love when they get excited in the early morning after a night rain and start chirping before daylight.
