Why do so many here use questions on politics and religion as a stick to beat each other with?

If you can't answer these questions in a constructive manner with facts, instead of just going to sling insults and have a row, why bother..

It's worth the bother for people who want to argue and quarrel for the sake of it, perhaps?

Exactly, I always try to avoid even looking at comments that seem designed to provoke a response to these kind of issues.

I think I've only fallen for this once on here, and inevitably regretted it.
