Not a happy time for me, so I prefer to think about it as little as possible.

My experience too.

@NigelDoes: Very sorry to hear that, Nigel.

Ditto. Corporal punishment was out of control in the 70's.

I hated study hall since kids threw stuff and made noise. I could not do my homework. So one day I skipped study hall and went to the library, instead. Yet the librarian asked for a pass and I said I had none, I was just going to the library to study instead of going to study hall. She said I could not do that and I was skipping out, and then she asked for my ID and I refused. But I eventually gave in and she gave me detention (probably for refusing to show ID at first, more than skipping study hall?). I was so pissed. I may have let that show, I cannot recall. I hated librarians for a long time after that. I had never gotten a detention before. I was so upset and humiliated.
OK, so I was rebelling against authority. She had a the right to write me up. Yet it was so annoying because it all started just because I wanted to go to the library. The fucking library. I got in trouble, initially, for going to the library without permission. They should have encouraged me, not cited me. High school was too much of a police state for my liking. Teachers could be real ass holes at times. Ugh. I just wanted to be a nerd in peace! Hey teachers, leave us nerds alone! College was so much nicer. Nobody cared how you spent your time. My job is in between, since although I am a salaried employee and I am left alone to do my job, I still have to record my hours and I cannot take long breaks with taking leave, and I still have to do what I am told from time to time. I do not always see eye to eye with management when it comes to math or priorities.

One of my teachers playing favourites (and I was a non-favourite). She'd pick on me in front of the others, sometimes I'd be in tears.
When I got one of the highest grades in her class in the final exam (higher than her favourites, who did poorly), she started being nice to me. Too little too late though, after doing that to me for two years.
