What's up with the fish face selfies?

Every picture I see of friends, they suck their cheeks in and pout their lips like fish. WTF, is this a trend or small lips pouting to look big.

I think that's hip now. Yanno it's better to distort your face and make it ugly instead of showing it normally. Because then it's just as ugly.
