Why dont animals understand it's them when the see a mirror?

Dolphins are the only ones who recognize themselves in mirrors I think

Because mirrors don't exist in nature and animals are lower intelligence

Usually they do seem to understand it once they notice that the reflection doesn't have a smell. Which is why they usually walk up and smell the mirror.

From my experience, anyway.
