One of my favourite performances of all time..... who says Jazz can't be in Italian?

Lara Fabian, who is much bigger in Europe than she is this side.
She is incredible
Singing Lucio Dalla's 'Caruso'

You can't go wrong checking out EVERY SINGLE version of Lucio Dalla singing this same song too. Fascinating to see the difference in interpretation from when he first released it years ago when he was young, juxtaposed with later versions closer to his passing. The years have weathered the telling of the story beautifully

Here is another version, closer to his death, where you can see his age, and he has to drop octaves to sing it. But that too, adds to its very own beauty.

This is the version I thought of when you mentioned his 'progressions' of the song. But this is not octaves, my dear. A couple keys. He does drop an octave here and there, but we could also say he climbed an octave back then ;)

No defense necessary. You are absolutely correct about how the tune has aged and deepened. I knew what you meant. ;)
