One of my favourite performances of all time..... who says Jazz can't be in Italian?

Lara Fabian, who is much bigger in Europe than she is this side.
She is incredible
Singing Lucio Dalla's 'Caruso'

You can't go wrong checking out EVERY SINGLE version of Lucio Dalla singing this same song too. Fascinating to see the difference in interpretation from when he first released it years ago when he was young, juxtaposed with later versions closer to his passing. The years have weathered the telling of the story beautifully

I LOVE this version. I've sang it on stage. His voice has such authenticity, such honesty, such raw emotion.

My Grandparents were at their home in Italy when he died. They said his funeral was carried live on tv. The country stopped when he passed.

The timbre, that honesty in his voice just rips a gaping hole into your chest, to then tenderly caress the heart.

I sing tenor - all my life. So one afternoon when I'm home alone, I fuck around trying to sing some of this with him. Not gonna lie. I could not even get close to some of the shit he can do. Pretty humbling.

@hlpflwthat: hahaha I know it. I struggle with LF's version.

Pavarotti has also recorded this, but I can't stand his version. And I like opera. But to me, though there is technical correctness in his renditions, they lack so much of what Lucio Dalla could convey.

As i will continue to say, a conversation in song....
