Why do people continuously post random internet photos here saying it's pictures of themselves?

I deactivate my facebook because these lunatics were using my pictures for whatever purpose. It always irks me after that, I guess it's personal for me.

Day in day out, I see posts with people claiming it's pictures of themselves. Why lie? Just be yourself, if you want to be anonymous, no problem. No need to catfish people and pretend.

@LostInTheDesert: i lost my family because my wife fell in love with a nigerian conn man beleive me nobody knows how catfish effect people better than me but you have to use logic too if you want to beleive the lies you will beleive them

@Rebuildingme: So sorry the hurtful part I meant not from just the picture, but getting to know them and your heart forming an attachment to them, only later to find out all were lies, including the profile picture.

@Rebuildingme: I'm sorry that's happened to you. My case wasn't as serious as yours but the implication of using other people's photos can still have detrimental effect. One of my good friend is here on SW, HamSolo. He was there throughout the ordeal, it drove me bonkers. This person actually use pictures of me to talk to different men, she befriended me, copy my pictures and use them.

I've learnt my lesson, I don't like using other people's pictures, i use my own with a tag or meme to cover my face just like my profile pic here on SW. I've learnt the hard way.

@RainBisou: I can not comprehend why they would do that, what happens when they meet up. Is it just a game that some people play.

@LostInTheDesert: in my case, I believe there was never any intention of meeting me. When I suggested it, it was I am so busy, can't get away, excuse after excuse. I had to learn a very painful lesson, I was extremely naive when it came to online people, I realized there are people out there to hurt others and not give a damn in the process
Why I instituted a no picture policy. I am sorry for what you went through.
