That's never going to change but no one is forcing anyone to eat that crap and fast food isn't exactly inexpensive anymore. For the cost of a big Mac and fries you could easily make a far more nutritious and balanced meal.

It's the same with cigarettes, people will always do stupid things.
I don't know what a Big Mac costs, but I have seen a dollar menu advertised.
And there is also the laziness factor. More and more people are too rushed, or just lazy, to cook even the simplest food. They prefer to grab some fast food from the drive-thru.

Not sure nicotine addiction is a very apt analogy but I agree with your other points. It's all about convenience. That, and sheer laziness. The increase in childhood obesity has to do with irresponsible parenting and fuck all else.

@NigelDoes: Oh, don't get me started on irresponsible parents! That is a pet peeve of mine. I can't stand parents who shower their kids with junk food, gadgets, and money, instead of spending time with them, and seeing that they get proper nutrition and exercise.

I know I'm not a perfect Mom, but my son always had love, attention, good food, sun and exercise. I think it's terrible how many kids barely see the light of day. They sit around like zombies, scarfing junk food, and staring at an electronic screen.
