Don't you hate fake people?

I am seeing a lot of fake people claiming to be a person who isn't them. Don't you hate these people? It's so hard to find people that are real and fake... if you find a fake person make sure to let me know I will try to find out if they are fake or not. I've dealt with several people like this before... and some people start to go to far and than they are obviously fake. You know?

Yes. Mannequins are stiff and unfriendly. You can chat with them, but they just ignore you. And those robots!!!! Upstarts!! They all think they are so special because they never get fat or wrinkles. Snobs. Every one of them.

I'm not sure about cyborgs. Are they totally fake people? Or are they just semifake? Well I think I will leave them out of this because they are at least somewhat real.

Nono I'm talking about people who make everything up about them but are human

@Haileygamer099: oh!!! The pretenders. Nah, I don't hate them. I feel somewhat sorry for them. Their lives must be so uninteresting. If it's necessary to pretend to be someone or something you aren't, it's a sad life, indeed.

On the other hand. Actors are forever playing roles. It's a way of life with them.

Why do you feel it is your right to say that people can't live their fantasies here, if that's what they are here for?

@Serenitree: I don't know about that. Isn't the goal of Similar Worlds (like Experience Project before it) to share real life experiences, to build empathy and sense of community with others that have similar experiences?

Say for instance someone makes an account and posts all about their lengthy battle with cancer, gets all the compassion from users that have had cancer or friends/family with cancer, and maybe even takes donations from other users to help pay their massive medical bills. Then about a year into posting their treatment stories it's revealed the user was never sick, that the entire series of posts was a massive lie and manipulation, and the community fell for it. I could see that kind of thing being a legal liability for Similar Worlds, and it would certainly violate the Terms of Service.

The user Hailey was talking about luckily never asked for money, but he did fabricate a couple of serious stories that garnered sympathy from pet owners over his fictional dead pet, and that was rather manipulative and histrionic, to say the least. I, too, feel compassion for the guy and can easily forgive him especially if he makes amends to any others in the group that his manipulative fiction hurt.

@Tybron: as I mentioned earlier, I blocked him a while back, because he annoyed me.

The truth is, I don't know who here is telling the absolute truth and who might be telling a "what if?" story.

I do know this. There are a whole lot of people on here who lie. When anyone asks a question about lying.....there are plenty who say they have never told a lie in their lives. I don't know what they call lies, but to me, smiling and responding "fine thanks" is a lie if you are not really fine. Everybody lies. It's just a question of what they lie about, and how their lies affect others.

I once posted a hypothetical story as a response to someone. I didn't realize that she wouldn't know it was hypothetical. She was very upset and angry because it touched her deeply. So now, I make a point of saying when something is "for example" or if it is a true story.

But people do make up stories. It's kind of sad, when they feel compelled to make up a fictional life, but it's a personal problem. I just would never send money to someone for anything.
