Is it okay to beat my father when he is beating and harassing my mother after drinking ?

Perhaps as a means of last resort. It would likely prudent to offer a warning first, making it clear you will defend her if need be. It's a step fraught with serious unintended consequences; but if it's the only way to help her...? I don't think I could stand by and watch it happen.

It wont change anything, it will just make his father more dangerous, more alert, more ready. He should say afterwards he has stood up to his father that he'll do it again. He shouldnt hurt his father though.

You're right, there's soooo much that could go wrong, thus used as a last resort.
