I'm not vegan....BUT

Our bodies (digestive tract)cannot digest meats properly. Even the constructs of our teeth prove this theory. Meat was introduced to the human diet, when plants began to die off (due to weather), and the only way we could survive, was by foraging for and storing nuts. We ate all of the nuts that we had stored and began to look for other ways to survive. Thus, animals/meat were introduced.

When meat is the ONLY option, it's a great way to survive.

Animals/meat then became part of the human diet, rather than part of humans surviving.

Today, we as humans, eat meat regularly. GET THAT PROTEIN! What we fail to realize, is that [c=#359E00]broccoli[/c] has more protein than a big, fat, juicy [c=#BF0000]steak[/c].

Our meat is so heavily processed that in today's society, we're adding hormones to juice up the animals, sometimes even add "filler meat" (you don't want to know what filler meat is), then we bleach it to kill all bacteria, and finally add the fluoride preservatives to preserve this meat before packaging and sending it to your local stores for human consumption.

I'm not against meat. I LOVE BACON and fish. But we're in over our heads here. Meat should be regulated a little better and the percentage of animals we kill in order to make meat products should be reduced by A LOT.

***In the United States, approximately 9 billion chickens are killed for their flesh each year, and 305 million hens are used for their eggs. The vast majority of these animals spend their lives in total confinement鈥攆rom the moment they hatch until the day they are killed.

***According to a 2013 report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 6.6 million cows were commercially slaughtered in the U.S. in 2012, which results in an average of 18,032 cows killed each day.

---Message me if you want a detailed description on HOW they kill these animals.

Did you know that chicks that don't meet the proper standard (such as not enough weight)have their beaks broken off and thrown back down on the floor to die? They do this to keep the chicks from being able to eat (waste) chicken feed.

Some places clip the beaks and nails off of the low standard chicks and throw them into a grinder ALIVE. This is your filler meat for chicken nuggets. :)

I was going to read the whole thing but then I thought its not really worth it. I could go on and on about these "21st century theories" on how our body can't suddenly digest 457 types of food but again...not worth it. Just one thing. "the constructs of our teeth prove this theory"? Ok...what about canines then? Do we have them just "by accident"?
basilfawlty8931-35, M
@IDidNotFart: She has some point though. While we ARE omnivores (hence flat teeth and canines), we are great apes. Great apes typically have a primarily plant based diet. That said, there's nothing inherently unhealthy about eating meat. I just don't for ethical reasons, I have no problem if someone does eat meat though...well maybe not cannibals.
SW-User
@basilfawlty89: uhm...no?! Most species that are considered Great Apes are actually omnivorous. Not all but most.
basilfawlty8931-35, M
@IDidNotFart: Yes, they are omnivores, but principally take nourishment from plant based diet. Hence why with a balanced diet even today with people, it's going to be mostly vegetable, grain and fruit based. You can live off only plants, you can't live off only meat unless you want Marasmus.
Infinity31-35, F
@IDidNotFart: Maybe you should have read it through. LOL.

Our bodies CAN digest meat.
Our bodies CANNOT "properly" digest meat.

Nearly all mammals have canine teeth. In fact, several herbivores and primary plant-eaters have ferocious canine teeth, and, the largest canine teeth of any land animal belong to a true herbivore!

The Hippo
The Gorilla
The Saber-Toothed Deer
The Gelada Baboon
The Camel

If you continued to read, maybe you would have understood that I'm not saying that there should be "NO MEAT". I'm stating that there should be "LESS MEAT".

Once again, NOT VEGAN.
BACON AND FISH LOVER.
SW-User
@basilfawlty89: Oh ok,that's true. We do need much more fruit and vegetables than meat, especially red meat. But just like you can't live off only meat, you can't live off only vegetables either. Unless the least you want to get is some type of anaemia.
SW-User
@Infinity: Honestly i did read the whole thing and still thought it wasn't worth it. "Today, we as humans, eat meat regularly. GET THAT PROTEIN! What we fail to realize, is that broccoli has more protein than a big, fat, juicy steak." Well,NO!!! No vegetable has more protein than meat. You need combinations of vegetables and legumes and huge amounts of these combinations to get as much protein as you can get from meat. And this is not something i read on the internet.
basilfawlty8931-35, M
@IDidNotFart: Sorta kinda, you can supplement. I haven't eaten any meat in 14 years. Granted, I'm not vegan, I eat eggs and drink milk. Not to mention I love honey (and this is where Vegans can be fucking stupid, because it's more important now than ever to breed bees).
sighmeupforthat46-50, M
incorrect. did you all fail biology?
SW-User
@sighmeupforthat: Are you a biologist then?

@IDidNotFart: There are plant based foods PACKED with iron.

-Dark Chocolate and Cocoa Powder. Ever wonder why you crave chocolate when you're on your period?
-Dried Fruit
-Blackstrap Molasses
-Dark Leafy Greens
-Spirulina
-Tofu
-Whole Grains
-Legumes
-Nuts
-Seeds
SW-User
@Infinity: wait what?? Since when is iron a protein?? And i didn't say they have no protein I said there's not as much protein in vegetables.
basilfawlty8931-35, M
@IDidNotFart: Well, meat doesn't actually have that much protein either. You get higher BV from eggs, whey and casein (I know this, because I used to heavily lift weights)
SW-User
@basilfawlty89: Much more than vegetables though! I didn't even talk about eggs, how come is that hard to understand what I'm saying? And yeah. I know this because I study food chemistry.
basilfawlty8931-35, M
@IDidNotFart: No, I understand what you're saying. Generally plants DO have less protein animal products. I was just saying meat doesn't really have that much protein as a lot of people think. That being said, it still is higher than plant based food with the possible exception of soya and quinoa. Hence why you need to carefully balance your diet if vegetarian and pretty much have to take supplements if vegan.
SW-User
@basilfawlty89: Ok. Now I agree. I'm sorry, I didn't understand the first time.
Infinity31-35, F
@IDidNotFart: Okay, let me spell it out for you:

You stated that no meat, equals Anaemia.
Anaemia- Iron deficiency.

IRON is needed to make PROTEINS.
basilfawlty8931-35, M
@IDidNotFart: And anyway, we can always snack on boogers together!
SW-User
@Infinity: I hope you do realise that the iron you get from any food, vegetable or meat, does nothing if there is no the right combination of minerals/vitamins/proteins. It can't be absorbed. Same with calcium for example, that's why we need vitamin D.
SW-User
@basilfawlty89: Aahhhhh ALWAYS!!
TheWombRaider26-30, M
@IDidNotFart: Well this blew up a bit hahahaha. You bossed it tho 馃槑
SW-User
@TheWombRaider: don't you dare ask such questions again when you know I'm gonna answer...
TheWombRaider26-30, M
@IDidNotFart: I could not be bothered to read all of what the girl said tho omg 馃槾馃槀
SW-User
@TheWombRaider: you're so rude...U_U
