Why is the expression 'hate is a strong word' often tossed around ?

Perhaps because it's effects can be pretty powerful.

I think 'shut up' is a pretty strong phrase. I really didn't like my 8th grade teacher but she had this policy where if you said 'shut up', you had to pay her a quarter and I liked that policy.

True also she was allowed to keep the money?
friedchickenwing · 22-25, F
She had a box for it on her desk. Idk what she did with the money but I'm not worried. As much as I hated her I think she was well intentioned in this deed

@friedchickenwing: why did you hate her ?
friedchickenwing · 22-25, F
She picked favorites, was very confrontational and power hungry (if you raised your hand at a time she thought was inappropriate, she'd point at you and say "overuled") and unfair. She had a dislike for introverts and kids that didn't remind her of herself. She said she hated tears because "I believe everyone can overcome their weaknesses." (Even if emotions are a weakness, just because you can't see something doesn't mean it ain't there). She misunderstood me and labeled me as sneaky at a time where I felt most alone and uncomfortable

Oh ... Well now I get it. Anyhow I agree with the overcoming fears part, but it shouldn't be forced on people. Everything else sound terrible .

I said tears

yeah. I'm like no wonder why she got supernervous whenever the principal came to watch her teach. A lot of parents probably complained about her.

She had this policy where you couldn't say 'ok' to her because it was considered 'talking back'. So one time, this typically loud and outspoken girl didn't say ok. My teacher did a wolf smile at her and said, "Oh you didn't say ok. Good girl." And in response to the awkwardness of the moment, the girl NEARLY said ok. The teacher asked if she was about to say ok and the girl answered honestly that she was and so the teacher screamed at her to get out of the classroom.
