I've been lost in the woods at night.
Doesn't sound that scary right now, but believe me, you need to keep your wits about you, in that situation.

I parked some place once in light, came out it was pitch dark. I could see Nothing, and roamed around for a while. Finally found my car. Since then, I carry a flashlight in my purse.

In the woods, even a flashlight doesn't help much. You're best to use your night vision
