They won't. Same as the Cancer cure argument.
Why go through the hassle of having to source it; grow it; pay folk to look after it; secure it; make it competitive price etc etc.
When you know folk can source it illegally; you as a government can catch the dealers; fine them; take their stash; knowing full well they can be back doing it in no time just waiting for you to catch them again.?
We've been trying to eradicate Cancer for nearly 100 years. Thrown millions at it. So where's the cure ?
Is it possible that there's more money to be made in treating the disease than curing it ??????

Precisely; no one wants to do, so pharmaceutical companies make money with treatment, as do oncologists, and surgeons.

@ZenLioness: It beggars belief the number of drug companies out there who take BILLIONS in research grants; spend time and energy on research and combining different chemicals; run tests using the stuff they create on participants who have nothing left to lose; get them to note the side effects and then re-package and market said drug for whatever the most common effect noted by the participants was !!!
If you know how Viagra came about, case in point !!

And in the States. ALL THOSE PEOPLE desperate for healthcare for their children and their old folks. And all they ever seem to come up with is yet ANOTHER insurance company, to take their money then tell them their policies don't cover what they need treatment for when they come to claim!!
It's a big business that constantly screws the little guy.
