Do you support Israel?

I know this is a heated topic for many. I have just been watching some history videos about the creation of Israel and the current issues.

Was Palestine ever a real Arab Nation? Is an 'Arab' Nation not intrinsically racist?

1. Prior to the end of WWII, there were no nations, in what is known today as the Middle East. No Palestine, no Israel, no Syrian, no Lebanon, no Iraq, no Kuwait, No Saudi Arabia....

2. Arab is not a nation. It is a league of nations, with Arabic as the common language (nominally).

3. Arab is not a race. The Arab league has at least 4 distinct "racial" groups.

4. Arab is not a religion. The Arab league has at least 8 distinct religious groups.

5. The question "Is an Arab nation not intrinsically racist", is not valid, as there is no Arab nation.

6. The issue of Palestinians violating Israeli human rights, is not valid either. Israel occupies Palestinian lands, whether it's Gaza or the West Bank.

7. Christian and Muslim Israelis, are second class citizens. On paper they have the same rights, but in reality, they don't.

8. Collective punishment techniques, are applied, on regular basis against Palestinians.

9. Extreme Islam is deeply rooted, mainly in Gaza. Gaza is a rectangular piece of sand, generally non arable. It is blockaded by Israel on one side, and Egypt on the other. They cannot leave and they have very limited options, for just about everything we take for granted: schools, hospitals, employment, or anything one might consider quality of life. It's a large prisoner camp, with no hope for a future. It's a shit hole, literally. Sewer flows through open trenches. This should help explain the opening sentence of this paragraph.

10. A one-state solution, is not possible at least for the next few generations. The only thing that will work, is a 2-state solution, along the 1967 borders, with an exception for the Golan heights, where a referendum should be done, as the entire population of the Golan Heights, is Arab speaking Druze, and they may choose to identify as Israeli.
I am sorry I missed your post when it first went up. Let me try to respond.

1. Agreed...and most of these nations were fairly arbitrarily made. Meaning that no nation has any more right or any less right at that point. However, now these are well established legitimate countries with government, so the idea that one or more should be removed is immoral.

2. Yes, there is a league of arab nations. My question could have been phrased better I agree, I will edit it. My point was more along the lines of: "What there ever a Palestinian nation?"

3. Here I would tend to disagree with you. There is a strong sense of tribalism among Arab league nations. This sense of tribalism is based on ethnicity. Yes, there are several distinct ethnicities across the arab league nations, however there is a loyalty to 'arabs' first.

4. Almost all arab league nations are majority muslim. To the degree where in modern language they are often interchanged, arab and muslim. Another thing that you fail to mention is those that adhere to a non-muslim religion in most arab league nations will face very harsh discrimination and possibly violent persecution.

5. Again my question is phrased somewhat badly. But the ideal of a Palestinian state is somewhat racist in and of itself. Why? Because I can guarantee you that Jewish people would not be welcome. And would not have the civil rights that Palestinians have in Israel now.

6. First of the premise of your argument in this point is flawed. Just because one faction has human rights violations does not mean that the other faction is completely excused from human rights violations. It is perfectly valid to question both sides human rights violations and wrongdoings. Furthermore the issues surrounding the Israeli occupation of some territory is complicated. There have been 3 attempts to make a treaty to have peace in the region. Each treaty has been progressively less favourable to the idea of a Palestinian state as Israel has grown in strength and population and won wars. Each treaty has been agreed to by Israel and rejected out of hand by the Palestinian leaders. The first gave Palestine around 70% of the land. The second gave Palestine around 50% of the land. The third gave Palestine about 25% percent of the land. Keep in mind that the second two treaties were offered after Israel had won wars that the Arab league nations started and thus was in a position of strength where they did not need to concede anything. Currently you talk about Israeli occupation of parts of Gaza and the West Bank. You clearly forgot to mention the Egyptian occupation of Sinai or the Jordanian occupation of the rest of Gaza and West bank. Also you forgot to mention that Israeli occupied those territories after putting up with years of terrorist attack from unpoliced regions. And that Israel is facing opposition from an enemy that has sworn to "not stop until Israel is driven back into the sea". Israel is resisting total annihilation.

7. Christian and Muslim Israelis are not second class citizens, they have all the same rights as a Jewish citizen. I certainly think there is some discrimination against Muslims within Israel. I totally understand why, since Muslim organizations have sworn to destroy Israel. Now if you knew someone who had sworn to burn down your house would you invite them in to sit down and enjoy a cup of tea with you? In addition, do Christians and Jews even have the same rights on paper in the surrounding countries? I think not.

8. Now, upon reading this point I decided that I needed to better educate myself on it. So I just read a few articles. As far as I can tell, Israel respects regions that are willing to live in peace alongside the other inhabitants. The punishment you talk about is geographical discrimination on the basis of the number of terrorist incidents and civil unrest. Israel is trying to cop with ongoing systematic terrorist attacks.

9. Yes, extremist Islam is deeply routed in those areas, is a huge part of the reason they are such shit holes. Why? Because extremists are blowing stuff up, attacking Israel (which has every right to defend itself from ongoing rocket attacks with lethal force), and creating their own victim complex when after provoking Israel they get hit. These extremists use innocence as human shields, have no respect for the rules of war or geneva conventions, they torture and execute Christians and Jews because they don't adhere to Islam, and they continue to systematically attack people just trying to live their lives.

10. As I mentioned in my above comments, a two state solution has been tried and rejected out of hand 3-4 times since the creation of Israel. The Israelis are rightfully sick of it.

@silmarilion456: The bulk of Palestinians already live in Arab countries. They've been displaced by the war of 1948, and were never allowed back to their homes by Israel.
