You are fired because you got caught.

We tried to cover for you Flynnstikov, just as you tried to be a patriotic comrade to us and to them. The White House and the Kremlin thank you from the bottom of our heartless hearts.

But you committed the cardinal sin.

You're allowed to lie. Just not to be recorded while doing so.

In a few weeks we may pay you as a secret consultant so you can be persuaded to 'forget' all that you told the Russians and requested of them, and on our behalf.

With this regime, even lying on camera is ok. Flynn's error was admitting he lied. He should know, you never admit to lying and never apologize. It doesn't matter if you were caught on camera saying the exact opposite. Those are just alternative facts.
