Is it such a bad thing to find out why someone has messaged you?

Seems reasonable, then again many aren't looking for a connection they are just bored and wanting you to entertain them.

Not at all. I've had the same happen. I think that's a very fair question to ask someone. It makes you wonder why someone wrote in the first place. Thanks to trolls and perverts. One can never be too careful.

I believe that it is more than acceptable to question people that message you, after all, we are all just trying to relate on one level or another. If you have no idea what attracted them then what is there to really talk about?

I always ask too. The generic answer they give are disappointing.

I've had that happen before. It always seems to be people who have the conversational skills of gnat.

I dont think that's a bad thing...especially if they just came out of nowhere. Did they see a comment I made? Or a story I posted? Or are they just sending out random messages trying to get a bite?

I always ask, their answer is important to me. Majority of the time I can tell exactly where the conversation will lead.
