if you arive in prison and you 'll stay there for a long time what is the first thing you do?

I'd probably want to kill myself. In my country it is a fact that the internal society of all the prisons is run by 2 gangs. The 26's and the 28's. When entering a prison after being sentenced then it is necessary to join one of the two gangs or they will both pick on you. There is no other choice because the prison warders keep prisoners inside but what happens inside is controlled by the gangs. It's not a place I want to be alive in.

There's a lot of gangs in American prisons. Sometimes prisoners are moved to other prisons to separate them from others and prevent a potential problem.

@cherokeepatti: Yeah prison gangs are hardcore. Here there are just the two main ones country wide. I think my main fear would be being raped in the ass repeatedly by other men who are mostly infected with AIDS.

sounds interesting. the reason i would not want to go probably.

i'm more of a wimp so i would be a punching bag / potential rape victim happily i'm 6'1 and i look a little intimidating even with my baby face :p

@popmol: If you have to share a cell with 30 other cell mates who belong to the same gang then size doesn't matter much. Also you eventually have to fall asleep and when you do...

@popmol: I was a policeman and in my latter yrs a large prison was in the area which I policed. When a prisoner wanted to open a case for rape or whatever then I was called out if on duty at the time. I could tell you some really gross details because I had to record detailed statements from the complainants. I won't though because it's gross. It involves some hardcore torture.

Also a few yrs back a friend of mines father was in jail while on trial. He got bail after a while but knew that he was going to be found guilty. He killed himself and left a letter explaining why he wouldn't go back to jail.

aah sounds not so very nice,well i'm autistic and can't stand yelling. i would not survive in american prison. it might be better here in belgium.

@Wraithorn: I was thinking about this today because there's a woman who was a home-daycare owner and a child died while she was caring for it, she told 4 different stories when she was first interviewed by police and they've found enough evidence to bring charges. I remember when it first happened she had said she was stressed out because her son had been arrested for something and she thought she'd lose her home paying for his defense....her problems just got a whole lot worse for her the day the child died. It would be terrible to live the remainder of your life in prison especially for killing a child, inmates don't take kindly to that in Oklahoma, there'd be fresh hell every day in a prison.
