Do you want to leave society? are you really free?

Seriously. i do. I want to walk away from society and start a new one. people say things like "oh its a free country". but is it really?
I live in England. I don't feel free.

If i want to go camping somewhere. I have to pay. If I went and set up a tent somewhere and was caught, it would be classed as trespassing and id be in trouble. all land here is owned by someone.

if i want to eat, i have to go to the shops and buy what they have on offer. usually has a bunch of crap added to it. if i want to grow my own food. I have to own land to do it. if i want to hunt...well I cant, that's illegal without paying a land owner to shoot on their land and then paying for the kill. or, again i have to own my own land.

Freedom isn’t free, you have to work for it. and even then you'll not really be free. Most people wont even earn enough their entire lives when you include bills and day to day living.

in a land where a man cant live off of his own whit with out being arrested, this isn't freedom. its slavery. going to work for 40 hours per week, doing the same repetitive thing over and over again every day for the best part of your life isn't freedom. its an illusion. they removed the physical chains, but they're still there.

there are a lot of other reasons I don't see my self as free either which I wont go into as I don't want this post to get too long.

Everyone believes it all too. If you step away and say your opinions on the matter. Youre classed as a nut case. If you say you don't want to work 40 hours a week for the rest of your life youre a lazy scum bag. Everyone keeps each other in line.

Who is this system serving? Not me that's for sure!

Well I have a plan. I want to leave for ever. This society isnt going to change any time soon thats for sure. I want to walk away from it. And I want to take like minded people with me. We’ll be like the frontier men of old in search of new lands.

Im not saying I want to leave technology behind and live a super basic life. no. im all for an easy life. I want to get a boat. Pack it with gear, equipment. Solar panels, satalite internet and I want to set sail with a close knit crew in search of a desert island. One that uninhabited, but workable, liveable. Im not saying it wont be hard work. It will. But we’ll be doing it for us, for future generations, we wont be making the rich richer. Im not suggesting a commune either before anyone pipes up. we’ll help each other sure. But everyone does their own thing they look out for them selves first and others second. Communism falls apart over something as simple as “who does the dishes tonight”? I Say, do your own damn dishes! See what im saying?

we’ll never disclose our location as someone in power somewhere will want to stop us. We will however upload videos of our progress to places like youtube, to show people our progress and show how life can be. we’ll become the change that deep down we all want. We’ll bring new people over as it grows and evolves. we’ll splinter off to other islands, become other cells, no one person will know where every cell is.

We’ll live free. we’ll do what we want to do everyday. We wont spend the best part of our lives living like a machine. Work, recharge, work, recharge. We wont pay for houses that were barely in for the best part of our lives.

Id like to meet people with this same mind set and make a plan together and execute that plan, ASAP.

The problems of living in a wilderness situation are many and serious. Desert islands, for instance, have no water. You are underestimating the benefits of civilization. Finding a suitable wild space of land to tame would be a difficult project. All land comes under the control of one country or another and you would have to deal with a national government sooner or later.

It might be better to consider doing this in a different way. Buying a significant parcel of land within a country, England or elsewhere, and then developing your own intentional community on your own land would put you in a position where you would have some protection from the worst of civilization and a chance to do things differently.

I give this advice while wishing you the best; when I was in my late teens and early twenties, I and two of my friends had the exact same idea. I could write a book describing all the reasons our dream never happened. (And now I am glad we never got anywhere...but that's another story...)

One tip I can offer on the subject of gathering an intentional community together:
The best way to get a good group of people together is not to look for them, or have long discussions with other would-be members of such a group. The best way to find the kind of people who can and will actually put time and effort into such a project is to start yourself and then meet others doing the same thing. It's when you are about halfway down the road to building your community that you will meet people doing the same thing. Those people have resources, are willing to work to bring about a dream, and already know a lot about it, as you will by then. Do not make the mistake of trying to gather people before you have reached a certain point in your project. People who have done nothing but who talk with enthusiasm will likely keep talking but do very little. Get started yourself and the people you meet on your journey will be the ones to team up with.

I made the mistake of getting involved with people who talked but did little. To them, it was just a daydream but nothing got done. Most people are like that.

grand advice my friend and i have already started. its somthing ive thought about for a long time now. currently looking at boats. thats my main thing. its cheaper than buying a livable parcle of land. grazing or pasture land we'd immediatly be turfed off. its a big wide world out there im sure we could find somewhere we'd never be found. the rest of the kit is fairly cheap once the boats bought. its hard, and kind of crazy cause i dont no a deal about sailing or boats and its somthing im having to learn in the proscess. i just dont want to go alone. one good serious partner would be good as a start

@SuicideScout: Pick a partner who knows,at least as much as you do about what you are doing. My friends and I planned on traveling in a trimarin. Also, if you haven't seen the movie The Beach, you need to see it and think about it. This movie deals with the problems of living in "paradise,"

Yeah someone else mentioned that film to me. Can't believe I've never seen it. I'm going to watch it tonight.
I've got plans on taking plenty of food with me, heck I'm even planning on taking a few breeding pairs of rabbits, noting reproduces like a rabbit.
There are even ways of getting drinkable water from the ocean as a last resort, it involves letting it evaporate and then condense onto a sheet with a channel in it that guides the water to a pot. And then repeating the proscess until the salt is removed the. Boiling it. Get that system set up first before you get low on water and you're set. Then there's a whole bunch of other methods.

I think its a great idea but you were born too soon..you need to get off the planet for this to work. All the best though. We are robots working for the system.

yeah there are a lot of things in place to stop things like this from happening arent there. im sure as hell going to try though. thanks for the well wishes.

Anyone who calls the UK a free country is seriously deluded - it's never been a free country unless you're part of the upper crust

couldn't agree more

I'm not reading all of that, I'm just going to answer the question. I would love to leave society and become a recluse. I'm not exactly free now but I aim to be someday.

Nah, I'm ok with living around other people and working my way through life.
