God is an unknowable entity, that I was encouraged to surrender my life to, for the purpose of seeking an eternity I did not desire.

Nonsense.

There are multiple competing definitions of "god." First you have to pick one you would even accept as a god if you came across it. So you could have, say, Q running around, simply omnipotent, but not a creator deity, just unable to be overpowered and virtually synonymous with chaos. Is that a god you would accept? Some would, some wouldn't.

Then there are the gods of pantheism (the god of Einstein and Spinoza) and deism (the god of Jefferson and Aristotle); the former is synonymous with "everything that exists" and so is tautological and lacks any real content, and the latter is an undefined being who at no point intervenes in our universe except to initially set everything in motion which makes it impossible to prove or disprove by definition and also gives you no reason to suppose it's even there.

Then you get to relatively "sophisticated" philosophical theism, in which god is defined as a creator being who is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent. This is just prima facie contradictory, and I have never in my life seen or been able to concoct a reasonable explanation for how these three things can be reconciled (let alone how any of them are coherent in their own right). So, rationalizations for wishful/magical thinking notwithstanding, theism can be summarily jettisoned.

God explains nothing and ultimately just adds to the morass of things to be explained.

God is creator, redeemer, the great I AM!! He is my heavenly Father and the one i owe everything I have and am to. He is Love and Power and Might. While it saddens me not everyone wishes for a relationship with Him, it is the single most important relationship in my life! I hope that we can ALL be respectful of each others answers, because we all know this is a topic that begs debate.......

God is LOVE. Once we know love we know God.

To me ... God ( or, Godhood ) is our eventual evolutionary path. Maybe reincarnation, maybe not, but science says our energy will be around forever, it cannot be lost. Therefore, I believe being a master of our environment, even the universe, is an eventuality.

A mystery. The question really is what are we to God. Are we just a dream. Just concentrated energy. I have no memory of before I was born or after I died yet we are told that time is not real.

God is nonexistent to me.
I've just never believed in him.
No matter how many times my family took me to church as a kid or read me bible stories to help me fall asleep, all of it was just stories to me, I've never believed a word on those pages nor have I had any desire to believe in God.

Why not?
ManicMicah · 26-30, M
@Ysa9257: Because I don't like the whole idea of "If you don't believe in God, you're a bad person" or "Your morality comes from God". Um, no. My morality comes from me being a genuine good person without having to go to church and pray and believe in some higher power who I've never seen or heard from in my life.

I like living my life without thinking about religion.

God is my everything! He provides the air I breathe and every beat of my heart. As to why? Well...because he just IS.
