My work was inherently stressful and intense, but I perform my best under those circumstances. I just can't get the same results without the pressure and the thought that I might fail that drives me forward. I got such a huge rush from succeeding that it made it all worth it.
My mother once told me, "do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life." I don't know why she said that because she was always trying to railroad me into careers I didn't want, but it's true. Work takes away part of your life that you'll never get back, and the sting is less if you're enjoying yourself.
