If I have a companion I'm not alone. o.O But yes, A as well, technically B can't even breathe out of water so that'd be short companionship! (Of course it could be magical talking fish, the mermaid might be mute and likely not talk the same language, though there has to be some assumptions made...)

@Faust76 you could eventually learn to understand each other. There's body language. And repeating the same sounds will eventually get you there. The problem would be whether she's even interested in communicating.
